Hi
Do You Know
There are many types of big cats out there;
Africa; Asia Leopards, (Panthera pardus).
North America Cougar, (Puma concolor) or Mountain lion
South; Central America Jaguar, (Panthera onca)
But apart from them all being cats, what do they have in common?
Well they all have the ability of producing PANTHERS
This might sound strange but a Panther can be any of these cat's that have been born with a condition called MELANISM.
This can be understood as the opposite of being an ALBINO
The condition is caused by an undue development of dark-coloured pigment in the skin so the kitten is born black and the rest of the litter may be born with the normal colour / pattern of the species.
According to Wikibot, this may be a beneficial mutation which occurs most commonly in regions of dense forest where the light levels are lower, but can happen at any pregnancy.
Check out this link of a story in the Daily Mail about a pair of cubs born in the Berlin Teirpark zoo.
Why am I imparting this information.
Well I think I have proved a genuine link between a Jaguar and a Panther so any part of a Jaguar can quite legitimately become Panther.
So to that end I went and forked out £50 and have bought 2 Jag Mk 2 grills
Both are in need of work, the left hand grill is complete but has welding problems on a few of the bars and as you can see the right hand one is incomplete.
So my intention is on the left one; to remove the old welding and silver solder the bars on correctly and for the right one is to remove the bars and find some heavy stainless mesh, cut, shape and solder in position and have both chrome plated. I then have the option of using either grill to give a bit of variety.
I have tried a round Panther car company badge in the hole of the center bar and these are a little large, no problem as I shall grind to fit and epoxy in place. The fit is quite good although there is a small gap to either side at the bottom but no problem.
